These pictures are from Courgette in the City’s first free Christmas Day event held at Lark Lane Community Centre. The event was held for local people who would otherwise have been spending Christmas Day alone. We had about forty people in total attending, including volunteers who helped out (thank you!), and we all sat down to eat together. David Knopov sang brilliantly for us, we had carol singers and Father Christmas dropped in too!
Courgette In The City is a Liverpool south enterprise founded by Rachel Rogers. We promote inclusion and participation within schools, alternative education providers, nurseries and anyone else that is interested in using gardening to develop social cohesion within their organization and community.
With an emphasis on ‘Grow Your Own’ and healthy living we promote sustainability whilst teaching lifelong skills. We can create a growing area in your outdoor space, however limited, or work with you in an existing garden.
For more information about the project, please visit the Courgette in the City website or telephone (0151) 727 3586 and ask for Rachel.

Can you help?
The W.E.A. Ecotherapy course at Lark Lane Community Centre is looking for a new minibus driver. The course is on Wednesdays 12-3 or sometimes 11-3 when we are going further afield. If you are interested in helping you wouldn’t need to commit to every Wednesday – just an occasional Wednesday would be very helpful. Many sessions are held in Sefton Park or other local places. The courses are 7 weeks long – the current course started on the 20th January 2016 and the next course starts on March 16th 2016.
The course is of interest to people with an interest in nature or meditation or improving their mental health or all of those things.
It would be helpful to have experience of driving a minibus but this is not essential. Most trips will be short, e.g. from Lark Lane Community Centre to Calderstones Park, with an occasional trip to somewhere like Formby or Lunt Meadows. Although this role is voluntary you will have the opportunity to attend the course for free. Alternatively, you could just drive us to our destination and back and entertain yourself in between!
Please ring Rupert at the Centre on 0151 728 7884 if you may be able to help.
No PSV Licence required.
